Fairtrade

fairtrade football, originally uploaded by lotsofbigideas.

Whilst watching the footie last night I was wondering why fairtrade footballs aren't used in every game?

I also discovered recently that Green and Blacks have been bought out by Cadbury's. What does it mean to have a fairtrade company owned by a confectionary giant? Hmmm...

I like what Ejovi's starting...

Last night's TV

I switched on half-way through Channel 4's Operation Muslim Vote documentary last night, which followed the activities of MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Committee), an organisation campaigning for greater involvement of British Muslims in the democratic process, in the run-up to the Election.

I don't know much about MPAC, and there's some debate to be had around what 'the Muslim vote' might actually be, but I really admired the determination of Asghar and Mudasser. They might sometimes have been flying by the seat of their pants (fact-checking is probably quite important in a leafleting campaign), but they got out there and got people thinking and talking. Good stuff.

Some good news...

Well done, Sheffield and Bolton..

I voted for you because...

Sorry for the long silence. I've been moving around a bit. Anyway, this sister site to notapathetic.com seems like a good idea...

This is Ghias Aljundi. He is a poet, writer and human rights activist and you can read some of his work on his blog.

Ghias says: 'Asylum seekers wait to be given a chance to build their skills to match the demand of whatever the opposition or government requires, since there is only room for 'skilled immigrants' in this country. But we're all still waiting to have a skilled government...'

Europe needs immigration

Now here's a thought... Europe may actually
need rather a lot of immigrants over the next few years to boost its shrinking and aging population.
